There’s a huge stigma in the arab world (sadly) about menstruation. We are told from a young age not to be too loud about having our periods which is something completely normal! I remember growing up my mom used to always make sure I never say it out loud when I am menstruating especially infront of my brothers and other male family members and this made me not understand a lot of things about my body growing up. I’ve always had to hide my pads at home and even while buying it and never mention I am having cramps or I’m in pain infront of another male.. This generational mindset is prevalent today and needs to be openly discussed because we should never let women be embarrassed with something normal. We need to create a shame-free world for women to love themselves and not hate themselves over something that they cannot control
